About Us

Umoja Foundation is a non-governmental and not-for-profit organization founded in Kampala in 2018 with a mission to provide people marginalized and affected by poverty, climate change and natural crises in Africa in general with emergency relief, educational programs, clean water and food security, health care, protection for children and orphans, sustainable socio-economic programs, and to promote peace-building and effective governance, while integrating our values of respect, impartiality, quality, accountability, advocacy and innovation in all our work. We have since grown to become one of the prominent national humanitarian and development organization in Africa with almost seven years of experience providing relief and socio-economic support services to those most affected by climate change, poverty and recurrent old farming techniques and methodologies.

Our organization’s headquarters are in Kampala, with field operation offices across the country and soon will open international offices in kenya Rwanda, Tanzania and Congo. Even as Africa is witnessing a fast track in development especially in social and economic changes, some of the community members are not keeping the pace and increasing land degradation and climatic shocks (droughts and flooding) and protracted poverty have left the continent marginalized society and communities in critical need of assistance at all levels. Decades of erratic climate changes have left vast populations, especially in rural areas, living in extreme poverty with high morbidity and mortality rates. The demand for basic necessities for survival are very high.

OUR AIM:

Our main aim is to provide youth and women professional skill, development and learning opportunity for poor and excluded society generation focus to strengthen them. We plan to achieve our aim by developing, testing and delivering evidence-based, feasible and cost-effective intervention relating to professional and social development with greater involvement of youth programme, and communities. We support the government initiative aimed at poverty reduction in line with the sustainable development goals and targets.

OUR MAIN OBJECTIVES.

To provide quality and basic education to children in the community.

To improve the general health and immunity of the local population.

To enable and give an opportunity to the youth to reach their potential physically, emotionally, economically and socially.

To introduce and establish women empowerment programmes and self-help projects to help the local women achieve self-reliance, financial stability and independence.

To carry out such activities and functions as may be deemed necessary by the organization management for furtherance and realization of the interests and objectives of the foundation.

To address the challenge of illiteracy, skills development, vocational training/education, professionalism and employment opportunities as a way of making women and children self-reliant.

To provide skill development through establishment of vocational training centres/schools to the youth and adults via community centres and sensitizing them on various projects on sustainable development.
Objective_09
To address the challenge of food insecurity, famine, poor diet, malnutrition through advocating for good, sustainable agricultural practices and food storage as a way of ensuring that the community is healthy.

More About Us

The need for emergency survival support and sustainable social and infrastructure development has never been greater and is crucial to ensure the survival of Africa and future development of the society at risk. Our programs are focused on serving the most vulnerable and marginalized people in Africa, namely children, adolescent boys and girls, women, persons with disabilities, people from minority clans and other marginalized groups and internally displaced persons (IDPS).
The sectors we work in are humanitarian relief, health care, education, orphan and childcare, economic development and sustainable livelihood, water and sanitation as well as peace-building and governance. Umoja
Foundation has membership in various regional and
international humanitarian consortiums and networks.
